Can you persuade your fellow classmates?

- Click the "Resources Link" on the navigation
bar to the left of this page and
follow all of the steps.
- After you have read and listened to most of the
links on the resource page, use them as a guide to
writing a two page, 12 pt, double spaced, typed essay
entitled, "How is String Theory Relevant in My Life?"
- Meet with your team of three or two people and use the
organizational tool, Inspiration, to brainstorm on how to
persuade fellow juniors and seniors that it's worth studying
physics. Click Persuasive
Essay to download an Inspiration template to your
desktop.
- Meet with your team to decide upon the following roles:
-
Developer: Takes the
Inspiration diagram and converts it into a workable outline
(Word Document), detailing how your team is going to
persuade others that it's worth taking high school physics.
Eventually the Developer turns the outline into an Essay,
entitled "Why Take Physics?"
-
PowerPoint Builder: Transforms the
Inspiration document and the
Developer's outline into a workable PowerPoint presentation. The
presentation should contain graphics as well as written
language, designed to highlight your persuasive argument. It
must contain at least 10 slides.
-
Persuader: Uses the PowerPoint
presentation and his or her presentation skills to make the case
that her presentation is the most persuasive of all. You will be
given 5 minutes to make your case.
- Class time will be set aside for each team to make their
case. The Persuader will be given 5 minutes to make her
presentation. The top three teams will receive extra credit
on their next test grade and they will be asked to present again to an
eleventh grade class of juniors taking chemistry.
- After the presentation is over you will be asked to hand
in your essay, your team's essay, Inspiration diagram, Word
outline, and PowerPoint slide show.
- Before you begin your quest, you should examine
the rubric found in the navigation bar on the left in the
evaluation link. This rubric will be used to determine your
grade for this project.
